Jill Rethman, RDH, BA, has over 30 years experience in the dental hygiene profession. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she was named the OSU Outstanding Dental Hygiene Alumnus for 2004, and is a visiting Clinical Instructor of Dental Hygiene at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

In her position as Dimensions editorial director, Jill’s responsibilities include the evaluation and editing of original manuscripts for the Journal; administration of a peer-review process for acceptance and rejection of articles; overseeing a panel of reviewers/advisors; working with advertisers and company representatives, and chairing Dimensions Corporate Council.

Jill is an international speaker who has presented programs to dental and dental hygiene societies, dental schools, study clubs and associations throughout the United States, Japan and Europe on such topics as periodontal risk assessment and treatment, patient motivation and health prevention strategies.

In addition, Jill’s articles have been featured in the Journal of Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA,) and Dentistry Today. She has written three textbook chapters: one on dental hygiene diagnosis and evidence-based treatment for the textbook, "Comprehensive Periodontics for the Dental Hygienist," another on evaluation and supportive care for “Dental Hygiene – Concepts, Cases and Competencies.” and another for “Periodontics, Medicine and Surgery.” She is currently writing a textbook on prevention strategies throughout life.

Jill served on the American Academy of Periodontology's Committee on Dental Hygiene Education and on the AAP’s Task Force to Review Guidelines. In 2005, the American Academy of Periodontology awarded Jill a Special Citation for her work in helping to develop and moderate its annual dental hygiene symposium. She is the only dental hygienist and non-AAP member to receive this award. Jill is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Sunstar Foundation for Oral Health Promotion and the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation.
