November 2005

Read Current Issue!

It is an exciting time to be a dental hygienist as the realm of oral health and its relationship to systemic health and disease just keeps expanding. In November, Dimensions explores the connection between periodontitis and low birth weight and premature babies. The research is in the beginning phases. However, as we learn more about the effect of oral health on pregnancy, the role of the dental hygienist only becomes more important. To round out this issue, Dimensions also features the second part of the problem solving approach to ergonomics series, an update on mouthrinses, fluoride, and tooth whitening, and a product-based look at the advancements in hand instrumentation. We hope this issue of Dimensions fills your mind as you are enjoying a warm and delicious Thanksgiving holiday!
