At age 93 Esther Wilkins remains passionate about oral health care and the responsibility she continues to embrace as a dental educator. Esther discusses milestones in clinical practice and research that have transformed oral health care, and reflects on the colleagues whose imprints have marked a career that spans more than 70 years.

Esther M. Wilkins, RDH, DMD, is an icon in the field of dental hygiene. She authored the highly regarded dental hygiene textbook, Clinical Practice of the Dental Hygienist, which has been published in Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, and Korean. She is currently working on the 11th edition. She was the founding director of Dental Hygiene at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Currently, she is a clinical professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. She is also an editorial advisory board member of Dimensions of Dental Hygiene.

AudioConnect Speaker Profile: Anna M. Pattison, RDH, MS

Anna Pattison received her B.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene from USC in 1967 and her M.S. in Dental Hygiene from Columbia University the following year. She is currently an Associate Professor and former Chair of the Department of Dental Hygiene at USC. Mrs. Pattison is the coauthor of the textbook Periodontal Instrumentation and has contributed to the last five editions of Carranzas (previously Glickman's) Clinical Periodontology.

In addition to presenting lecture courses and hands-on instrumentation courses to practitioners for the past 30 years, Anna is renowned for presenting faculty in-service instrumentation courses for dental and dental hygiene instructors in the United States and abroad. She has repeated been a featured speaker for the Annual Sessions of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Hygienists' Association, Canadian Dental Hygienists' Association, 25 state dental hygiene associations, as well as for 10 national associations and universities in Europe, Australia, and Asia.
